When you are looking for home workout plans, they should fulfil different important criteria. The best can be done in a relatively confined space, without expensive equipment and without taking up most of your precious spare time.

Good home workout plans will not be about just building muscles for show, like bodybuilders. They will focus on exercising different parts of the body, and helping you through day to day tasks. A technique that promises you wonderful abs is not the kind of plan that will make you feel better, fitter and healthier. The best kind of home workout plans are probably best described as "performance based."

A good workout regime will also offer variety, in two ways. Not only will this prevent boredom, it will train different parts of the body through different exercises, and it will alter regularly, or have several different options. This is for two reasons. One is to have the "balanced" look to your body. The second is to allow different parts of the body to rest and recuperate. This is essential if the exercises are to bring any long term benefits as the recovery aspect is almost as important as the exercise itself.

Home workout plans must also not rely overly on weights - not everyone can buy expensive dumb bells or similar equipment. If you are finding a plan that demands lots of extra spending - look elsewhere! There are dozens of good exercises like squats, or pull ups, that don't require you to dig deep into your pocket.

If you see variety, simplicity and all round effectiveness then you have hit the jackpot with your home workout plans.
