How to burn fat

Physical exercise is defined as any physical activity that enhances or maintains physical fitness or overall health. Exercise is essentially split into two major sections, aerobic and anaerobic exercise.

Aerobic exercise mainly focuses on building cardiovascular functions as far as oxygen absorption is concerned. Initially glycogen is broken down into glucose, which is broken down even further to release the necessary energy for the work out. Once the glycogen reserves are depleted then the body begins to burn any fat reserves at its disposal, which is a less available energy source compared to glucose. Aerobic activity is doing the same activity for a long period of time but at a moderate pace. An example would be running a long distance at the same moderate pace. There are numerous health benefits to aerobic exercise, one obvious one being weight loss. This is because the fat reserves within the body are constantly being called upon to produce energy for the body to function. This type of exercise enables the body to burn calories faster. Aerobic activity also reduces the risk of contracting certain diseases. These include type2 diabetes, high blood pressure, certain types of cancer and even a stroke which are all associated with obesity. Aerobic exercises strengthen the heart enabling it to pump blood more efficiently.

Generally, exercise boosts a person's mood because as they exercise, endorphins (the feel good hormones that the body releases) rush into the blood stream. This also combats depression and relieves stress. There are several types of aerobic exercises an individual can engage himself or herself. One of them is step aerobics, where the individual uses a "step" made of plastic to perform a particular routine (known as a step routine) for an extended period of time. Another common type of aerobic activity is swimming. This is a more enjoyable form of aerobic activity that exercises the entire body as well as the heart. It can obviously be done in a swimming pool, in a river or even in the ocean Another popular aerobic activity is walking. This type of exercise can be enhanced by strapping on ankle and/or wrist weights that make the work out slightly more difficult.

Anaerobic exercise on the other hand is concerned with building muscle. The principle focus of this exercise is to build muscle as opposed to burning fat. It also has its advantages because as the body builds muscle, fat is being replaced making the body leaner and trimmer. This is simply because muscle is denser than fat. Anaerobic workouts involve weight lifting and various other strenuous activities like hill or mountain or even rock climbing and short sprints. Anaerobic exercise is usually short in duration but high intensity. The advantage of this type of workout is that it increases muscle strength, improves cardiovascular functions, and increases the body's capacity to eliminate waste that may have accumulated within it.

It is important to consider combining the both type of exercises and add them accordingly to your workout regime. But like anything health related it is important to consult a doctor before any rigorous exercise and consider a fitness professional to guide you through strength training exercises.
